Young Israel of Merrick
107 Hewlett Avenue,Merrick, NY 11566
The Young Israel of Merrick is a growing and vibrant synagogue located on the South Shore of Nassau County. Our Shul is unique in its ability to maintain a "small Shul feel" whereby our members have the ability to directly influence the direction of the Shul and participate in our religious environment.
Merrick is a unique community with a variety of conveniences including:
| A wide variety of housing in terms of size and costs | |
| Convenient commute to New York City (42 minutes to Penn Station) | |
| A variety of Kosher food including a Glatt butcher, bakery, meat restaurant, dairy bagel restaurant and Israeli food store | |
| Other Jewish oriented establishments including a Judaica store | |
| Close proximity to HANC, HAFTR, HALB, South Shore, and other educational institutions | |
| The majority of the community is enclosed within a Kosher Eruv. |
The Young Israel currently supports a full program of Jewish activities, including daily minyanim, weekly shiurim, education programs featuring "scholars in residence", and of course a rich youth program for our children.
Our spiritual leader Rabbi Marc Volk epitomizes the mantra of the Young Israel of Merrick, namely to provide an environment where all participants feel comfortable and are able to grow their Judaism at their own level and pace.
Over the past 14 years we have grown from 17 families to over 55 full time families. With this continued growth we have once again filed with the Town of Hempstead for a variance to expand our facilities.
Come join us as we continue to grow our Shul. If you are looking for a growing community that maintains the "small Shul feeling" with a wide range of housing and Jewish conveniences Merrick is the place for you.
